2009 Shasta Dam Grand Prix - 30th Annual Event

Boo! The Redding Dirt Riders Annual Shasta Dam Grand Prix/AMA West Hare Scrambles was held October 31-November 1, 2009! This was the 30th Annual Grand Prix that the Redding Dirt Riders have held!!!
The Chappie-Shasta OHV area suffered major damage from wildfires in July, 2008. The subsequent reconstruction of the OHV area gave us a new course with some awesome new trails. Recent rains kept the dust down despite the weather being perfectly clear and sunny, temps in the high 70's. We enjoyed two days of racing, the kids, women and vintage races on Saturday and the main event on Sunday.
Because our race fell on Halloween weekend, we had trick or treating for the kids, a cake-walk and costume contests. Special thanks to Kathleen for putting these activities together--they were key in making this event special.
Thanks to all that attended. We are planning to run our next Grand Prix/Hare Scrambles April, 2010 and hope to see you there. Keep checking our web site for more pics from this event and infomation about upcoming events.

We just wanted to tell you what a great time we had last weekend. The weather was beautiful the camping sites were great and everyone was so nice. Thank you for organizing the kids activities, they had such a great time at the cake walk and costume contest and of course getting all the great candy. My husband had a blast on Sunday's race but boy was he tired after riding 3 1/2 hours.
